In 2025, JC Mont-Fort is set to launch construction of three significant renewable energy projects across southern France, Corsica, and Ivory Coast, collectively representing 200 MW of new renewable capacity. These projects reflect JC Mont-Fort’s new strategic direction of transitioning from a renewable energy developer to an Independent Power Producer (IPP).
South of France: Roujanel Solar Park (125 MWp)
In partnership with EDF Renewables, JC Mont-Fort is developing the Roujanel photovoltaic park, located across 122 hectares in the municipalities of Prévenchères and Pied-de-Borne in Lozère. The solar facility will feature approximately 241,758 solar panels and deliver 125 megawatts-peak (MWp), sufficient to provide electricity for about 80,000 inhabitants annually.
Corsica: Meria Wind Farm (21 MW)
The Meria wind farm, developed by JC Mont-Fort’s subsidiary Eco Delta, is located in the municipalities of Méria and Morsiglia, Haute-Corse. Initiated in 2004, the project underwent extensive wind assessments and adaptations to regulatory and technical constraints. The finalized project comprises 21 wind turbines, each rated at 1 MW, and includes a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
Ivory Coast: Katiola Solar Project (50 MWp)
In Ivory Coast, Katiola Solar Power, a JC Mont-Fort subsidiary, will develop, finance, construct, and operate a photovoltaic solar plant of 50 MWp in Katiola, Hambol region. This solar farm will utilize 89,208 polycrystalline solar panels (560 Wp each), achieving a total installed capacity of 49.96 MWp and an annual output of 72,921 MWh.
The total project investment is estimated at 32.9 billion CFA francs (~USD 53 million), fully financed by Katiola Solar Power under a public-private partnership (PPP). The project will create around 160 direct jobs during construction and 30 permanent jobs during operation. Commissioning is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, approximately 15 months after the agreement signing with the Ivorian government on December 2, 2024.
This project aligns with Côte d’Ivoire’s renewable energy strategy to diversify its energy mix and reach 45% renewable energy by 2030.
Michel Jouven, Founder of JC Mont-Fort, said:
“These projects mark a new era for JC Mont-Fort, evolving our role from purely renewable developers to independent power producers. We look forward to financing, building, and operating these landmark renewable assets.”
