Eco Delta inaugurates Europe’s largest solar energy project

Eco Delta develops, constructs, and begins operating Europe’s largest solar photovoltaic project, the Colle des Mées park, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. With a total installed capacity of 100 megawatts-peak (MWp), the site comprises several solar power plants across nearly 200 hectares.

In partnership with Sumitomo Corporation for a 30 MW portion and supported financially by BNP Paribas and Siemens, this project reinforces Eco Delta’s leadership in renewable energy. Commissioned in 2011, the facility can supply approximately 12,000 households with clean electricity, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and dependency on fossil fuels.

Benefiting from exceptional geographic conditions, including horizontal solar irradiation of 1,550 kWh/m²/year and notably pure air, the site achieves 10 to 15% higher energy efficiency compared to standard European averages.

The Colle des Mées project solidifies the region’s status as a major center for solar power production, contributing substantially to France’s renewable energy goals and energy transition objectives.
